I’ve lived in Fernley since August 1965, when my husband, Monte, and I moved here
to begin his teaching career at Fernley High School. The Fernley Free Methodist Church
was under construction and very near to completion at that time. We attended the church
sporadically that first winter because we both had a Methodist heritage. I happened to be in
the midst of a time of estrangement from God and was really not interested in church.

In the spring of 1969 my attitude changed dramatically. I found myself praying in the midst of a crisis.
I realized that I really did believe in God and that I needed to find out what He required of me.

That summer I entered into a new dimension of relationship with my Heavenly Father,
one that was is very different from my childhood faith. I received the Holy Spirit
in a powerful way during a revival service and became a “Born Again” Christian.
Later I found the scripture verse that described the experience,

John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave
the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”

During the next 30 years I served the Lord in almost every dimension of church work.
At some point the Lord told me that I was to work for Him and not take any outside employment.
In May1989 I enrolled in a correspondence course to earn a Master’s degree in Theology.
I finished in May 1990 after a year of intense study.

Suddenly in May of 2000, our pastor resigned and the Lord called me to be the pastor at
Fernley Free Methodist Church
I know that the Lord has an exciting future planned for us!
